Looking for the men's game? College basketball has its own boards.

Women's college basketball is its own game, and the box score shows it. Four 10-minute quarters, not two 20-minute halves. Last season ran 6,054 Division I games at a mean total of 131 points, between 363 programs that mostly never meet.

The schedule, the scores, the rankings and the team index are facts, so they're here from the first tip. A projected number has to earn its place, so this one was fitted on women's results rather than borrowed from the men's game, and the two differ in level and home court. Walked forward over 5,449 games last season, the margin calibrates at a slope of 1.03. The matchup board has our number beside the books', with no edge column until a season of women's lines has been graded.

Games against Division II and III opponents count on a D1 team's record, so they're on the scoreboard. The visitor just doesn't get a page. Conference tournaments and the November multi-team events count too. The NCAA tournament doesn't count toward the standings table, and it's on the scoreboard all the same.

The list is 363 programs across 32 conferences, re-read from ESPN's Division I tree on every run, so realignment shows up on its own.

Nothing here is a pick. Every number we publish gets graded against what happened, and that record is the product. See how it works.

Common questions

How many teams does this cover?
All 363 Division I programs across 32 conferences. The list comes from ESPN's own D1 group tree, so realignment shows up on its own.
Do games against non-D1 teams count?
Yes, and they're on the board. A D1 program hosting a Division II or III opponent in November is playing a real game that lands on its record, so we show it. Those opponents just don't get a page of their own.
Are conference tournaments included?
They are, and so are the November multi-team events. ESPN files all of them under one event type, and a team's record includes them.
Are these betting picks?
No. Every number here is a projection we publish and then grade against the result. We're not promising outcomes, and a 6,000-game season carries enormous variance.
